At the end of the day, this is the sort of album that provides a nice change of pace for those in the thrash world that remember a style that wasn't afraid to progress within its existing medium, and contrary to many naysayers, was evolving in the early 90s when it was put out of the view of mainstream heavy music in favor of the groove metal craze. It represents a more muscle bound, yet intellectually deeper and complex take on a working class mode of metal music, which was heavy enough to sate those who fell in love with the flirtations with death metal that was going on with Sepultura and Demolition Hammer in the early 90s, but slightly less frenetic and addicting to pure speed. It even takes a few hints from the death metal world and throws in an occasional blast beat to further heighten the aggression factor. Feed The Ego may not be a humble musical affair, but it definitely humbles the cynics and shows that thrash is far from dead.
