This album is hard to define; it has a lot of speed metal elements but the intensity is just strong enough for me to give it the thrash metal nod. Now, cool cover art and album title aside, there is a vast bulk of quality material on this album. From Eric A.K.'s declaration as being the best thrash metal vocalist (circa '86) with his killer performances on tracks like "Hammerhead" and "Metalshock," to the sprawling title track that dances around countless different riffs and rhythmic passages, Flotsam and Jetsam composed one of the most musically-dense thrash albums of the early classic era.
